What was your first CAUTION kite? My first Caution was a red 2002
9M, I handed it down to my brother and the thing is still going.
Who do you admire the most? I admire the Schiebels for their quick
witted humor and ruthless dress downs; Cousin Brucee for his wave riding
skills and good looking hair. Josh Mulcoy is probably one of my greatest
influences, except for his poor taste in kite brands.
The perfect kite trip? Fish Tacos + waves + wind + video camera
Worst kitesurfing injury? My worst injury was from a dirtbike,
which technically isn't a kitesurfing injury, but my back was so messed up
I couldn't ride a kite for six months.
Best kitesurfing session? Friends (not too many) + waves + wind
Best fast food? UpperCrust, westside SC
Music? Variety: NOFX to Old Blue Eyes
Favorite kite film? I like films that tell a story: forget the run of
the mill surf film: I want to see stories, characters and real adventure.
What is the best thing about riding for Caution? There's character
in everything that Caution does. We have the highest performance kites on
the market, and this is because we have one of the most talented designers
in the industry; I'd welcome anybody to point out a designer that can ride
as hard and as long as Peter Schiebel. It's also a cultural thing, we have
a lot of fun, yet there's a lot of integrity in what we do and no bullshit.
